Physical Meeting - Arrowhead Country Club Registration is now Open! Please plan on attending this meeting. Meeting Title: "Unsung Heroes: Project Management making a difference in Non-Profit" Location: Arrowhead Country Club Clubhouse 50 Ocala Dr, Montgomery, AL 36117 Meal: Buffet Registration: $25 Topic: Lessons Learned Leading Projects and Teams in Non-Profit. Abstract: In business and government, projects drive innovation, renovation, modernization and just about everything in-between. Project Management plays an essential role in guiding these projects to success, making sure stakeholder investments continue to drive industry and service forward. But theses aren't the only places where projects and project management are making an impact. While most project management professionals spend their days leading teams while balancing Scopes, Schedules, and budgets, in the world of non-profit, many others manage vast projects leading only volunteers, balancing Scope and schedule but with little or even no budget at all. In this world of projects, Vision is everything and the currency is passion and leadership. This month's meeting will feature one such of our Montgomery area non-profit leaders and an opportunity to discuss some lessons learned on successfully motivating team members and stakeholders by tapping into shared vision and values. Speaker: Rea Cord, Executive Director, Humane Society of Elmore County. BIO: Our speaker for this event will be Rea Cord, Executive Director for the Humane Society of Elmore County. Cord is a retired Major and Logistics Officer of the United States Army. Cord earned her Master of Science in Logistics Management from the Florida Institute of Technology, as well as her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from Purdue University. Cord is nationally qualified in incident response and command, having earned her NIMS/ICS qualification. Being a devout advocate for the benevolence and welfare of animals, Cord serves as an associate member of the International Veterinary Forensics Sciences Association and is a current member of the Montgomery Kennel Club, where she formerly served as the secretary and Education Coordinator. Cord is trained in various Animal Welfare/Control and Sheltering subjects at both the non-profit and government level and formerly served as president for the Alabama Humane Federation. Cord is the full-time manager and owner of her 35 acre hobby/rescue farm (VuJa De Acres), where she houses a collection of horses, donkeys, goats, dogs, and cats. In her work at the Humane Society of Elmore County, Cord states that her goal is to do the very best for the animals that visit the shelter and to find both caring and responsible homes for as many as she possibly can.
