Topic: "Techniques for Implementing Change"

Abstract: There are only a few things in life that are guaranteed to happen to all of us 1) Being born, 2) Death, 3) Taxes, and 4) Change. For many people, change is one of the hardest long term things to deal with because it seems like change never stops. At work, we add to this anxiety by constantly changing the work environment, we update our computers, we improve our processes, we get new customers and lose long time friends as they move to other jobs.

So this session is a focus on how project managers can help the organization change without increasing the stress level of those impacted by the change. We will peer into the behaviors that often generate strife and offer ideas for how to lead people through their change. Have you heard of "ADKAR", or the "Six Sources of Influence" or "The Positive Deviant"? These are the prevailing methods leaders use to plan for and implement change in their organizations. We will spend some time on how they have used each method and accomplished great results.

PMI LEARNING CATEGORY: This topic will give you 1 PDU toward the Leadership category. and the networking portion will give you up to 1 PDU toward the Way of Working category for a total of 2 PDUs.

John Crilly

BIO:

John Crilly serves as the Director of Service Delivery at Atos, an international IT Services company with regional HQ in Dallas Tx. Crilly has over 20 years of experience in leading projects withinin the Healthcare, Telecom, Manufacturing and government sectors.

Crilly holds two associates degrees and one bachelors degree in Technology Management and has been PMP certified since 2004. In addition, he has also been ITIL certified since 2011. Crilly once served on an international PMI CoP board for 2 years and has been also been an active member and PMI South Alabama chapter board participant for 3 years. Crilly has lived in Montgomery since 2006 with his wife Cathy and son Larkin.
